Water Security Planning and Action

* Conduct water resource mapping at community and watershed levels.
* Promote sustainable water harvesting structures (check dams, ponds, rooftop harvesting).
* Facilitate community-based water budgeting and equitable distribution.
* Strengthen village-level water user committees for operation and maintenance.
* Promote safe drinking water technologies (filtration, chlorination, low-cost purification).

Rural Sanitation Plan

* Support construction and usage of individual household latrines (IHHLs).
* Facilitate community-led total sanitation (CLTS) campaigns.
* Promote twin-pit toilets, eco-sanitation, and low-cost innovations.
* Awareness campaigns on safe disposal of child faeces.
* Strengthen village-level monitoring committees for open defecation free (ODF) sustainability.

Urban Sanitation Plan

* Promote decentralized waste and sanitation solutions in slums and low-income settlements.
* Strengthen community toilets and pay-and-use systems with proper maintenance.
* Awareness and behavioral change campaigns on sanitation practices.
* Collaborate with municipal bodies for faecal sludge management (FSM).
* Pilot projects on decentralized wastewater treatment systems (DEWATS).

School WASH Promotion

* Ensure functional toilets, separate for boys and girls, with water availability.
* Set up hand washing stations with soap in every school.
* Integrate WASH into school curriculum through interactive sessions.
* Create child WASH brigades and hygiene clubs for peer learning.
* Promote menstrual hygiene management (MHM) and provide disposal facilities.

Anganwadi WASH Promotion

* Provide low-cost sanitation and safe water facilities in Anganwadi centres.
* Train Anganwadi workers on hygiene promotion and nutrition linkages.
* Demonstrations on safe water handling, hand washing, and child faeces management.
* Promote child-friendly toilet seats and hand washing facilities.
* Integrate WASH into Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD).

Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) Plan and Action

* Community-led segregation of solid waste at source (biodegradable and non-biodegradable).
* Promote composting, vermicomposting, and bio-gas units for organic waste.
* Awareness campaigns on plastic waste reduction and recycling.
* Grey water management through soak pits, kitchen gardens, and reed bed treatment.
* Strengthen local governance institutions for SLWM planning and monitoring.

Hygiene Promotion
